The Lonely Passion: My journey at AbafaziPhambili
My Beloved Nation
As a Mother of the Nation, I promised to share my journey at AbafaziPhambili. October is our birthday month, a time to reflect on where it all began. AbafaziPhambili was conceived in October 2014, just after the devastating loss of my Mother. Her passing left a void, but it also sparked a fire within me. It became formally registered on the 7th of October, 2020. What a bittersweet coincidence, life closing one chapter, while opening another. It felt like the Ancestral universe was whispering its approval.
What is AbafaziPhambili?
AbafaziPhambili is not a GBVF organisation, as many assume. We do not fight gender-based violence directly, we confront the root cause, gender inequality that breeds GBV. I am not a GBVF activist, I am a gender equality activist. Too often, people fail to understand the difference. On GBV, we focus on containment, allows us empathetic space for women to express their experiences while suitable referral organisations are identified for referral.
