SISTER K FOUNDATION PRESENTS EMPOWERMENT IN ACTION AWARDS 2026

Theme: Legacy in Action

She May Never Ask to Be Seen. That Is Exactly Why We Are Looking.

In every community in Cape Town, there is a woman whose name is spoken with quiet gratitude. She is the mentor who stayed when others moved on. The teacher who saw a girl before the girl could see herself. The neighbour whose front door became a safe place. She does not serve for applause, and that is precisely why she so often goes unrecognised.

The Empowerment in Action Awards 2026, hosted by the Sister K Foundation under this year’s theme, Legacy in Action, exists to change that. The awards honour women in Cape Town who have faithfully served girls and young women for two years or more, across three categories:

The Guiding Light Award — for women whose wisdom, love, and faith are shaping girls into their God-given purpose.

The Community Heart Award — for women creating safe, nurturing spaces where girls are protected, valued, and empowered to rise.

The Purpose Builder Award — for women who teach, mentor, and equip girls with the tools, confidence, and vision to build purposeful lives.

Nominations Extended to 31 July

Since nominations opened in June, we have received a request: “Please give us more time — we know exactly who she is; we just need to do her story justice.” We have listened. Nominations will now remain open until 31 July 2026. A nomination takes only 5 minutes; self-nominations are welcome, and every nominee will be acknowledged. If her name came to mind while reading this, that is your answer. Nominate her today at sisterkyende.org/awards.

Nominations close: 31 July 2026  |  Awards Celebration: 29 August 2026

Join Us on 29 August

The Awards Celebration takes place on Saturday, 29 August 2026, from 12:00 to 15:00 at Belmont Square, Rosebank, Cape Town — an afternoon of recognition, inspiration, and connection in the heart of Women’s Month. Seats are limited, and registration is now open. You do not need to know a nominee to be in the room; you simply need to believe that women who build the next generation deserve to be celebrated by it.

Your Business – Your Impact- Your Legacy

We are also opening exhibition stands to women-owned businesses and social impact enterprises at R350 per stand. Bring your branding, your products, and your story to a room full of women who believe in lifting each other up. Spaces are limited — reserve early.

Partner With Purpose

For organisations and individuals who share this vision, partnership and sponsorship opportunities are open. Sponsorship here goes beyond the event itself: it equips the winners in each category with prizes that extend their impact, investing directly in women who are already investing in others. If your brand stands for legacy, this is where legacy is being built.
